Cheese! Cheese! Glorious Cheese! I mean who does NOT like CHEESE?
Loaded with calcium and vitamin D I can’t say no. This is comfort snacking at is best and it is the easiest snack to bake.
I’m not sure if many of my East coast friends know too much about the yummy Cougar Gold Cheese used for this recipe. Basically this is Washington State University Creamery’s version of white cheddar in a tin! It is AMAZING. The longer you keep it in the refrigerator, the better the flavor gets. It has a tangy zip, it’s sharp and insanely yummy. Click here and it will take you to the Cougar site, where you can place an order but they do not deliver during the summer.
When you add the Asiago and Jalapeno Cheddar to the Cougar, it makes for SUPER tasty snack with Kick!
The yummy ingredients are:
a) Box of Pepperidge Farm Pastry Puff sheets
b) 1/2 Cup grated Cougar Cheese
c) 1/2 cup grated asiago cheese
d) 1/4 cup jalapeno cheddar (for a little kick)
e) 1tsp freshly chopped thyme
f) 1/2 tsp paprika
g) 1/2 cup melted butter (unsalted)
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
Follow thawing instructions on the Pastry Puff Package.
Line a baking pan with eco friendly parchment paper.
Combine all grated cheese ingredients and chopped thyme into a bowl.
Sprinkle the 1/4 of the grated cheese mixture onto the lined baking pan.
When the pastry puff is thawed (but not soggy or warm), roll out until the pastry is almost 20% larger.
Take a pizza cutter and slice lengthwise 3/4 inch thick strips.
Place each strip on the baking pan 1 inch apart.
Brush lightly with melted butter.
When all the strips are on the baking pan, sprinkle the remaining cheese onto the strips. Sprinkle lightly with paprika before baking.
Bake for 16-18 minutes.
Happy EATs!
